Meet the Team
I am interested in the relationships between people and landscapes. This interest has lead me on a path to discover how I personally interact with my landscape, how local groups of people interact through conservation or farming with their landscapes and how we, as a species, alter our planet. For 15 years I have moved between conservation and farming and, following this thread, I have questioned more or less every aspect of our interaction with the land.
It seems to me that now, more than ever before, we need to attain some clarity around who we are and what our roles in the biosphere are. And what we want them to be.
I am fascinated by life and living systems. I explore this practically through working in agriculture and forestry and also by viewing what I see through a scientific lense. At The University of Exeter I have explored how natural systems regulate themselves and I am also beginning to conduct participatory research with farmers.
Before my split life as a landworker and academic I worked in the third sector. I ran a social enterprise and also worked as a consultant, helping individuals and communities to create positive change in whatever form that may be.
